Olympic First for SMART-Drop

by on 28/06/2011

When SMART-Drop won a contract from Surrey County Council to door drop properties in their area with news of the Olympic Cycling Time Trials and Road Race, little did we think that we would become an Olympic Winner!

But it certainly looks that way since we haven’t seen any other door drop items featuring the Olympics before or since our first drop in mid-May.

Residents and businesses on the Olympic Cycling courses will expect some disruption as roads are closed for several hours on a few days in 2011 and 2012 and Surrey County Council wanted to ensure that people on the route would be given ample warning about what to expect. In addition, the leaflet identified volunteering opportunities at the Games by driving recipients to the Surrey County Council website and also asking them to complete a short comment card to be returned by post.

However, they also wanted to ensure that the cost of this exercise were kept under control, so they only wanted to target specified postcodes along the route rather than blast entire areas with a leaflet that had no significance for them.

So after carefully mapping the cycling route, only the postcode units adjacent to the courses were selected.

Olympic One, Two, Three

Winning the contract for the delivery, just like winning an Olympic medal, can only be achieved after years of hard work and preparation. But at SMART-Drop we had developed the expertise to meet Surrey County Council’s expectations, by developing a unique delivery proposition that allows us reach postcode units.

So the first Olympic door drop will be followed up by a series of further messages to residents over the next 12-months to keep them updated with news and developments.

In the meantime, at SMART-Drop we expect to continue our winning ways with other great wins from businesses needing smarter door drops.
